Tulsa, Okla. - Keith Burns announced his resignation as The University of Tulsa's head football coach today.

Burns compiled an overall 7-28 record in his three seasons with the Golden Hurricane. In his first season, Tulsa posted the school's most wins in eight years with a 5-7 mark in the 2000 campaign. His last two teams registered an overall 2-21 record.

"The bottom line is that we didn't win enough games," said Burns. "To have the opportunity to be a head coach on the Division I-A level was a dream of mine. Only 116 other coaches had the opportunity to do that. I've been extremely blessed and very fortunate."

Burns became the school's 25th head football coach on December 7, 1999.

Tulsa will conduct a national search for a new head football coach beginning immediately.
