Tulsa Volleyball Falls to Memphis in Three

TULSA, Okla. —
 The University of Tulsa volleyball team fell to Memphis, 3-0 (15-25, 22-25, 12-25) Friday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynold Center. Junior outside hitter Rebecca Reeve recorded 10 kills, and junior libero Brooke Berryhill led the way defensively for TU with 13 digs.
 
The Golden Hurricane fell to 10-11, 5-4 American, and Memphis improved its record to 14-8, 5-4 American. TU hit a .111 percentage, with 32 kills and 18 errors on 126 attempts, while the Tigers hit a .237 percentage (39-11-118). Reeve registered her 14th double-digit kill match this season, while Berryhill recorded her 21st double-digit dig match this season and her 79th of her career.

In the initial frame, Memphis took an early 11-7 lead forcing a TU timeout. Coming out of the timeout the Hurricane trailed by six at 19-13, as Memphis forced TU's final timeout of the set. Tulsa trailed late in the set at 23-15, before a TU service error and an attack error ended the set 25-15. Boahnnon tallied three kills and Berryhill racked up five digs in the frame.

In the second stanza, Tulsa trailed early with the score at 9-5 and at 14-9. The Hurricane battled back to bring the score within two points at 24-22, but they fell short as Memphis ended the set at 25-22 earning a 2-0 match advantage going into intermission. Reeve recorded four kills for TU, while sophomore setter Sophie Bethke tallied six digs.

In the final frame, the Hurricane fell behind early, 11-5, forcing Tulsa to call its first timeout of the set. Memphis then extended its lead to 14-7, forcing TU's last timeout of the set. Memphis scored eight of the final eleven points to close out the set at 25-12 and the match 3-0.
 
The Hurricane continues conference play at the Donald W. Reynolds Center when they take on Cincinnati at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.
