Cross Country Set for American Athletic Conference Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams look to defend their conference crowns Saturday morning at the American Athletic Conference Championships, set to take place at Lake Kristi in Grimesland, N.C.

The men's 8K race begins at 9 a.m. CT, and the women's 6K race will begin at 9:50 a.m. The men's and women's races will be streamed live on the American Digital Network.

The Golden Hurricane won both the men's and women's championships last season in Tulsa. The men's team, ranked 13^th nationally, has won five straight conference titles and the women's squad has won two in a row, dating back to its time in Conference USA. The TU men are also ranked No. 2 in the Midwest Region, while the women's team is No. 6 in the Midwest Region.

TU senior Marc Scott is the reigning individual champion. He led the Hurricane last year with a 10K time of 24:43. All seven Tulsa women's runners and six men's athletes finished among the top-15 last year, earning all-conference honors. All-conference performers from 2014 on the teams this season are Marc Scott and Elijah Sliva for the men, and Clara Langley, Stacie Taylor, Olivia Lopez and Nicole Lee for the women's squad.

Tulsa last ran at the Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 16, where the men's team took eighth place, led by Scott's first-place finish. TU eclipsed 14 higher-ranked opponents in that race, and surged into national coaches poll at No. 13. The women's team placed 28^th at Wisconsin, paced by senior Rachel Baptista's 21^st-place performance.
