THE STORYLINES . . .
•    Tulsa football is under new direction as Philip Montgomery was named the 29th head coach in school history on December 11, 2014.
•    Tulsa has the smallest undergraduate enrollment of FBS schools with 3,473 students . . . UCF has the second largest enrollment in the country with just over 60,000 students.
•    Tulsa has doubled its win total from last year with a current 4-4 record.
•    Tulsa and UCF have met eight times previously, and three of those games have been for a conference championship.
•    Tulsa and UCF met for the 2012 Conference USA Championship at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Dec. 1, 2012, where Tulsa won 33-27 in OT.
•    Senior receiver Keyarris Garrett set an American Athletic Conference record and an NCAA season-best in Tulsa's seventh game with 268 yards and 3 TDs on 14 receptions vs. #17 Memphis.
•    Against ranked teams this year – #16 Oklahoma and #17 Memphis – Keyarris Garrett has totaled 457 yards, a 228.5 average and 4 TDs on 28 receptions.
•    Quarterback Dane Evans ranks in 4th place on both the school's career
     passing (6,788) and total offense (6,892) charts.
•    Senior safety Michael Mudoh is one of only 16 players in school history to reach 300 career tackles . . . he has 358 career tackles for a 7.8 average per game in 46 career games . . . Mudoh ranks 6th on the school's all-time tackles list.
•    Tulsa has had 22 of its 33 touchdown drives in regulation that have come under two minutes for a .667 percentage . . .  14 Tulsa TD drives have been under one minute this year.
•    Tulsa 's defense has totaled 12 takeaways this year after going the first seven quarters of the season without getting a turnover.
 
THE SERIES . . .
•    This is the ninth meeting between Tulsa and UCF . . . three of the games were played for the Conference USA Championship, when the teams were members of that league.
•    Tulsa leads the overall series 5-3 and posted a 2-1 mark in those C-USA Championship games.
•    Tulsa has a 3-0 mark at home, and trails the series in Orlando 3-2.
•    The first meeting came in the 2005 C-USA Championship game in Orlando, Fla., as Tulsa won by a score of 44-27.
•    UCF won both games in the 2007 season –– 44-23 in the regular season meeting and 44-25 in the C-USA Championship game, both games played in Orlando.
•    Tulsa won both meetings in 2012 –– 23-21 in the regular season and two weeks later 33-27 in overtime in the C-USA title game.
•    Tulsa has won its five games by a 12.2 margin, while UCF's wins have come by a margin of 21.3
 
HE'S A "KEY" TO TULSA OFFENSE . . .
•    Whether used as a decoy or catching passes senior receiver Keyarris Garrett is a big part of the Tulsa offense.
•    In game #7, Garrett had an NCAA season-high 268 yards receiving against #17 Memphis with 3 TDs covering 36, 46 and 32 yards on 14 receptions.
•    He currently ranks fourth nationally for receiving yards (992) and fifth for receiving yards per game (124.0).
•    Garrett has totaled 457 yards, a 228.5 average and 4 TDs on 28 receptions in Tulsa's two games against ranked opponents – #16 Oklahoma and #17 Memphis.
•    On the year, Garrett has 63 receptions for 992 yards, 15.7 average per catch, 5 TDs and 124 yards per game.
 
ANOTHER RECEIVER DOES IT . . .
•    Tulsa has had four different receivers this year have a 100+ yard receiving game.
•    Red-shirt freshman Justin Hobbs was the latest to accomplish the feat with 150 yards on 7 receptions at SMU . . . his 150-yard receiving game is the third-best in school history for a freshman, behind Dan Bitson (161 yards in 1987) and Trae Johnson (158 yards in 2007).
•    It was not only the fourth time that a different Tulsa receiver has gone over 100 yards in a game, but it was the fifth time that a receiver went over 100 yards by halftime.
•    Hobbs had 108 yards on 4 catches in the first half at SMU.
•    Previously, Keyarris Garrett had 156 yards against Oklahoma and 142 vs. Memphis in the first half, while Keevan Lucas did it with 105 vs. FAU and Josh Atkinson had 119 yards vs. New Mexico.
 
LANGER AMONG SEASON TD LEADERS . . .
•    For the third time in his seven games played this year, senior running back Zack Langer has scored 3 rushing touchdowns.
•    Langer has had a rushing TD in each game this year and has a season total of 14 rushing TDs.
•    He now ranks 3rd on the school's all-time list for rushing touchdowns.
•    Langer is tied with Michael Gunter (1983), Courtney Tennial (2006) and Tarrion Adams (2008) with 14.
•    He trails Steve Gage (17 in 1985) for second place and single-season record-holder Alex Singleton (24 in 2012).
 
EVANS TIES SCHOOL RECORD . . .
•    Junior quarterback Dane Evans had his fourth career 400+ passing game vs. #17 Memphis, tying Billy Guy Anderson (1965) for the most in school history.
•    Evans' first 400+ game came last year in the season opener with 438 yards against Tulane.
•    Through eight games this season, Evans has three 400+ games, coming against FAU (424), #16 Oklahoma (427) and #17 Memphis (421).
•    He also had four TD throws against both Oklahoma and Memphis.
•    Billy Guy Anderson quarterbacked Tulsa in 1965 and had 400+ passing games of 502, 477, 477 and 451 yards in just that one season.
•    Evans has nine 300+ career passing games, including six this season, to rank third for the most in school history behind Paul Smith (15) and G.J. Kinne (14).
 
SOPHOMORES COME UP BIG IN FIRST-HALF TURNING POINT VS. SMU . . .
•    In the SMU game, two Hurricane sophomores made big plays in the last 3 minutes of the first half to give Tulsa a two-point halftime lead.
•    With Tulsa trailing 14-10, CB Kerwin Thomas intercepted an SMU pass and went 31 yards for his first career return for a touchdown to put Tulsa ahead 16-14 with 2:26 left in the first half.
•    After SMU retook the lead 21-16 with 1:12 remaining until halftime, Tulsa marched 75 yards in 5 plays, taking just 0:56 off the clock, as RB D'Angelo Brewer had Tulsa's longest TD run from scrimmage since 2012, a powerful 23-yard burst that put the Hurricane ahead 23-21 at the 0:16 mark.
