TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team signed two players, Haley Coulter and Taylor Horsfall, to national letters-of-intent, announced today by Head Coach Ryan Wills. Coulter was the 2014 Florida Class 8A Player of the Year, while Horsfall ranks among the nation's top liberos by PrepVolleyball.com.

"We are excited to add Taylor and Haley to our team next year," Wills said. "When we began recruiting the 2016 class we wanted to make sure of two things; that they are winners, and that they are passionate about the sport of volleyball. Without a doubt our staff did a great job recruiting this class."

"Haley is a true six rotation player," Wills said. "I watched her in the Florida 8A State Championship match a year ago, and she played almost flawless in the biggest moment of her career. The ability to play that well and win a championship shows her level of skill and toughness."

A 6-1 outside hitter from Brandon, Fla., Coulter was named the 2014-15 Bright House Sports Network Volleyball Player of the Year. As a junior, she totaled 324 kills, 239 digs, 46 service aces, and picked up 26 blocks. Coulter led the Manatee High School Hurricanes to a 25-5 overall record her junior year, including a Florida Class 8A State Championship that helped solidify her 2014 Florida Class 8A Player of the Year honors.

As a senior, Coulter compiled 354 kills, 233 digs, 25 service aces, and picked up 40 blocks. She served as team captain and led the Hurricanes to a Florida Class 8A State semifinals with another 25-5 overall record. Coulter's teammates voted her Manatee High Most Valuable Player in 2013, 2014, and 2015. The talented outside hitter also plays club volleyball for the Tampa United Volleyball Academy.

"Haley is a truly talented player with a high volleyball IQ," Tampa United Volleyball Academy head coach Sam Cibrone said. "She appreciates the subtle things in volleyball like ball control and serve receive. She is one of the best players to come out of our club and we are very excited and proud of her."

"Taylor is a winner in ever sense of the word," Wills said. "She is a special player on the court and off the court. She will exemplify exactly what Tulsa Volleyball is all about. She will add to the tradition of great liberos at Tulsa.

Horsfall, a 5-8 native of Houston, Texas, comes into the signing period as one of the most highly touted liberos in the country. According to PrepVolleyball.com's Class of 2016 Senior Aces: Top 100 Complete, "She possesses the type of character that will cause programs to become better instantly. Horsfall is sure to be a fan favorite from Day 1 at the University of Tulsa."

As a sophomore, she totaled 532 digs and 71 service aces. Horsfall broke the single season digs record at Alvin High School her junior year when she tallied 679 digs, while picking up 86 service aces. As a senior, she compiled 393 kills, 93 service aces, and 523 digs. She was named to the preseason Fab 50 by Vype, was named first Team All-District as an outside hitter, and she was ranked 53rd on PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Ace's list. Horsfall also broke the career record in digs at Alvin High compiling 2,125 career digs. She plays club volleyball for the AVA 17Rox, and her team won the 17 Open National Championship last year.

"Taylor cannot be compared to anyone or anything," Alvin High School Head Volleyball Coach Suzy Buechele said. "Her quickness on the court makes her ability to read defenses look simple. She is always in the right spot at the right time, and her platform is flawless. She possesses a love for volleyball that is unfathomable, and her selflessness is deeper than that. If I could have six Taylor's, I would win every match for the rest of my life. I hope she can change as many live in Oklahoma as she has done at AVA."
