Tulsa Men’s Tennis Competed in ITF USA F31 Futures Tournament

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis teammates Or Ram-Harel and Juan Matias Gonzalez traveled to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the ITF USA F31 Futures Tournament, which is hosted by the United States at Highland Park Tennis Center.
 
Ram-Harel and Gonzalez competed in the Singles Qualifying Draw, which included 128 elite Futures tennis players from all over the world. The tournament featured a head-to-head format, where only the winner advances to the next round of play and the loser is eliminated.
 
In the first round of the Singles Qualifying Draw Gonzalez defeated Germany's Leonhard Gerch, 6-4, 6-3, while Ram-Harel was eliminated from play after losing to Filip Kraljevic of Ole Miss, 6-2, 6-1. In the second round, Gonzalez defeated Georgia's Peter Bertran, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, which was enough to advance him to the third round where he defeated Russia's Iznaur Akhmaev, 6-2, 6-3. Gonzalez defeated Idaho's Artemiy Nikitin, 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth round, which advanced him to the first round of the Singles Main Draw where he lost to USA's Alex Rybakov in a 6-4, 7-6(3) thriller.
