Tulsa’s Varsity 8+ Finishes Second at Tulsa Fall Invitational

The Tulsa Varsity 8+ finished second in a field of nine boats this morning at the Tulsa Fall Invitational on the Verdigris River in Catoosa, Okla. This concludes the fall season as TU will return to action in March.
"I thought we rowed really well today and had a good weekend," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "KU wanted it a little more today as they were able to take up their rating a little at the end to earn the top mark, but we had a solid race. We of course would have liked to have won, but it was close. Now we go back and work on getting even more speed for the spring."
Tulsa's Varsity 8+ 'A', which consisted of Lauren Vander Hoeven, Hannah Vissers, Emily Farrar, Jennifer Casson, Maria Gearing, Skylar Luttjehuizen, Colleen Giesbrecht, Janelle Payne and Marcia Vidaurri, finished second in a time of 18:06.3, just five-tenths of a second behind Kansas' 'A' boat. The TU 'B' boat was fifth and the 'C' boat was sixth in times of 18:52.4 and 19:07.7, respectively.
