TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa's Marc Scott and Luke Traynor will represent Great Britain in the U23 men's division of the European Cross Country Championships in Hyeres, France on Sunday, Dec. 13.

There are 36 athletes competing in the championships, and there are six different divisions with six highly-touted athletes in each division.

Scott's notable performance not only earned him national notoriety, but it was enough to earn him the opportunity to compete for a championship in his native country. This fall, he won the Chile Pepper Festival, Wisconsin Invitational, and the American Athletic Conference individual title. Scott also won the NCAA Midwest Regional and went on to finish 10th at the NCAA Championships, thus earning All-America accolades. The talented runner was named the Midwest Region Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week, and was named American Athletic Conference XC Athletes of the Week once this fall. This will be Scott's third time to compete for Great Britain. He raced for Great Britain in last year's European U23 Cross Country Championships, and competed in the 10K in the European U23 Track & Field Championships.

Traynor's performances from the fall also earned him an opportunity to compete in the championships. This fall, he finished 21st at the Chile Pepper Festival, 50th at the Wisconsin Invitational, and placed third in the 8K at the American Athletic Conference Championships. Traynor helped lead the men's team to a sixth straight conference title and a fourth place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional, where he finished seventh in the 10K. In the NCAA Championships, he finished 34th in the 10K to also earn All-America honors. This will be Traynor's second time to compete for Great Britain, as he raced in the European Junior Cross Country championships in 2012.

Scott and Traynor mark the fifth and sixth British TU athletes that have represented Great Britain at the European XC Championships in the last eight years.
