Tulsa’s Kickoff Luncheon Presented by ONEOK and ONE Gas is Unofficial Start to the Football Season

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane Football Kickoff Luncheon presented by ONEOK and ONE Gas was held Thursday afternoon at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa. The annual event is the unofficial kick-off to the start of a new football season for the Hurricane.

The event, attended by over 500 people, took on a "Tulsa GameDay" feel as the city's four local television sports directors – John Holcomb (KOTV-TV 6, CBS), Al Jerkens (KJRH-TV 2, NBC), John Moss (KTUL-TV 8, ABC) and Nathan Thompson (FOX 23) – served as the GameDay hosts along with the school's radio play-by-play voice and director of broadcasting Bruce Howard.

First-year Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery took the stage and answered questions from the media contingent on stage. Near the end of the event, Big Al Jerkens, from Channel 2, donned the Tulsa mascot, Captain 'Cane, head in support of the Golden Hurricane.

Tulsa opens the 2015 season against the FAU Owls on Saturday, September 5, at H.A. Chapman Stadium with game time set for 2:30 p.m. The season opener has been billed as a White-Out Game, where all fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. Fans, 21-years and older, in attendance will also have an opportunity to win a Lexus NX automobile at the game.

Season tickets for the entire six-game home schedule, the Mazzio's Family Fun Zone ticket package and 3-Game Pick 'Em Mini-Packs are now available.
