Tulsa Men’s Tennis Compete at Three Tournaments over the Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – Members of The University of Tulsa men's tennis team traveled to three different destinations this weekend to participate in separate tournament events, including the Ivy Plus Tournament at Princeton, New Jersey, the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas, and to the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif.
 
Ivy Plus Results
Juan Gonzalez, Mitchel Pritchard, Carlos Bautista, and Dominic Bechard all traveled to play in the Ivy Plus Tournament. Gonzalez competed in the top singles flight and went 3-2 on the weekend, winning the consolation final over Penn State's Roman Truklja (6-3, 6-2) in his respective bracket.
 
Pritchard posted a 1-2 record on the weekend picking up a win over Penn State's Tomas Hanzlik (5- 7, 6-4, 10-3). Bautista posted an impressive 3-1 record this weekend winning the consolation final of his corresponding bracket over PSU's Tomas Hanzlik (6-4, 7-6).
 
In doubles play, Gonzalez and Bautista advanced to the third round in the Blind Draw of 64 Players, where they were eliminated by Cornell's Chris Vrabel and David Volfson (8-4). Pritchard and Bechard advanced to the second round, where they fell short to Robert Livi and Andrei Crapcenko of St. John's (8-5).
 
Midland Results
Dylan McCloskey, Matthew Kirby, Daniel Santos and Chase Gordon competed at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas. In singles play, Gordon was very efficient compiling a 3-1 mark and winning the consolation finals against UT Arlington's Pablo Colvee (9-7). Kirby posted a 1-1 record, Santos went 1-2 and McCloskey posted a 0-2 record.
 
Oracle Malibu Masters
Or Ram-Harel traveled to Malibu, Calif., to compete in the Oracle ITA Masters. Ram-Harel posted a 1-1 record in the tournament. On Friday, Ram-Harel beat Notre Dame's Quentin Monaghan in a three set thriller (7-5, 4-6, 7-6). The match lasted approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes. On Saturday, Ram-Harel faced TCU's Cameron Norrie and dropped the match (6-4, 6-1) to conclude the weekend.
