
Tulsa Volleyball Begins Conference Play Traveling to Tulane and Houston

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team opens the American Athletic Conference season this weekend with matches in New Orleans and Houston. The Golden Hurricane takes on Tulane at the Devlin Fieldhouse on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m., and will face Houston at the Athletics/Alumni Center on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.

Tulsa played host last weekend to the Tulsa Invitational wrapping up the non-conference portion of their schedule. The Hurricane went 2-1 on the weekend defeating Oral Roberts, 3-0, and Houston Baptist, 3-1, and losing to North Texas (3-0).

Junior outside hitter Erica Bohannon and senior middle blocker Ashley Hooper were two of six players named to the All-Tournament team, after posting 5.10 and 2.60 kills per set, respectively. Hooper led the Hurricane hitters with a .309 attack percentage, while Bohannon hit .246 on 126 attacks. Bohannon had an impressive .432 hitting percentage against crosstown rival ORU. In addition, junior outside hitter Rebecca Reeve recorded 28 kills and junior libero Brooke Berryhill totaled 64 digs.

When Tulsa faces Tulane Friday it will be the 25th match-up in program history, with the series split dead even at 12-12. The match between Tulsa and Houston will be the 20th match in school history, as the Hurricane leads the series 13-6.
