Tulsa Women’s Tennis Team Opens 2015-16 Season at OU Invitational

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis team traveled to Norman, Okla. to compete in the OU Invitational at the Headington Family Tennis Center. Matches began today and will continue through Sept. 27. There are 59 student-athletes representing 10 teams competing in singles and doubles play.
 
Seniors Saana Saarteinen and Renata Kuricova posted a 1-1 record in their doubles draw. Juniors Marcelina Cichon and Mahitha Dadireddy went 0-2 in their doubles draw. Freshmen Martha Matoula and junior Rongrong Leenabanchong received a first round bye before going 1-1 in their doubles draw.
 
In singles play, Leenabachong, Saarteinen, Matoula, Kurikova, and junior Yelena Nemchen lost the first match in their singles draw. Cichon went on to win in her singles draw, and advances to the quarterfinals to face Gabriela Porubin of Wichita State University.
 
There was only one round of singles today and doubles play will resume on Sunday.
