
Tulsa Men’s Tennis Team Nationally Ranked and Ready To Begin 2016 Season Season

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team opens the 2016 season with a double-header Friday, Jan. 15, when they take on crosstown foe Oral Roberts at 10:00 a.m. and No. 21-ranked California at 6:00 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Golden Hurricane enters the 2016 season ranked No. 29 nationally according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
California is Tulsa's first of 19 ranked opponents the Hurricane will face this season, including seven top-25 teams visiting the Case Tennis Center.
Last year, Tulsa finished the season ranked No. 28 nationally, under Head Coach Vince Westbrook who is entering his 25th season with the Golden Hurricane. TU is one of five American Athletic Conference teams to begin the season ranked among the top 50 nationally. Other American teams entering the season ranked include, South Florida with a No. 15 ranking, Tulane with a No. 39 ranking, Memphis with a No. 45 ranking, and SMU with a No. 46 ranking.
Junior Or Ram-Harel enters the 2016 season ranked No. 51 in singles play after having a productive fall. Ram-Harel went 2-2 in singles play this past fall, while picking up big wins over No. 5 ranked Quentin Monaghan of Notre Dame in the 2015 Oracle/ITA Masters and No. 48 Jordan Daigle of LSU in the ITA Men's All-American Championships.
Five out of Tulsa's first seven matches include teams that are ranked in the top 75 nationally. After facing No. 21 California this weekend, Tulsa plays No. 26 Northwestern on Jan. 22, and No. 6 Illinois on Jan. 23 at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign, Ill. Tulsa then returns home to take on No. 69 Wichita State on Jan. 31, and No. 72 Arkansas on Feb. 12.
