Tulsa Women’s Tennis Defeats No. 53-Ranked Marshall In ITA Kick-Off Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis team defeated No. 53-ranked Marshall, 4-0, Friday morning in the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chaphill, N.C., as part of the 2016 ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The No. 48-ranked Golden Hurricane, 5-0 overall, takes on North Carolina at 3:30 on Saturday, Jan. 23.
The event includes 60 teams nationally at 15 different sites, and will determine this year's qualifiers for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships to be held Feb. 5-8 in Madison, Wis.
TU dominated the doubles contest winning the first two matches to earn a 1-0 advantage, which allowed for the final doubles match not to finish play. In singles play, the Hurricane won the first three matches ending the dual 4-0. Tulsa led in two of the three final singles matches, but all three matches did not finish play.
