TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Volleyball team will hit the road this week for two American Athletic Conference contests, beginning with a contest against the defending conference champion SMU Mustangs on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Memphis to take on the Tigers Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Hurricane fell to SMU in both matches last year and currently trails in the all-time series to the Mustangs 18-22 dating back to their first meeting in 1996. SMU is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the AAC with Temple and Cincinnati and ranks 55th in the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), two spots ahead of the Hurricane. SMU returns two All-AAC First-Team honorees from last season in Janelle Giordano and Morgan Heise, who leads the team with 5.13 digs per set for a total of 344.

Tulsa will wrap up weekend play against Memphis on Sunday having split a pair of matches last season with the road team stealing wins on their opponents' floor. Since joining the AAC, Tulsa has split both season contests for the Tigers while leading the all-time series 13-9 with their first meeting coming in 1983. Memphis heads into play this week win-less in conference play after six contests.
