Tulsa Women's Tennis to Travel to Minneapolis for ITA Central Region Tournament

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Women's Tennis team is slated to travel to Minneapolis, Minn. for the 2016 ITA Division I Women's Central Region Tournament to be held Oct. 13-17 at the Baseline Tennis Center. Five athletes will participate in the tournament beginning with five singles matches on Thursday before starting doubles play on Friday.
Rongrong Leenabanchong enters play this weekend as a nine-seed and is scheduled to take on Nebraska-Omaha's Janelle Wilson in the round of 128 on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
Martina Okalova earned the 17-seed for the tournament and will take on Tess Herder of Drake at 11 a.m.
Vera Ploner will play her first match of the tournament at 2 p.m. in the afternoon, taking on South Dakota State's Mario Velazco.
Martha Matoula and Mahitha Dadireddy both are slated to take on seeded opponents from Kansas in their opening round matches, facing off against 17-seed Tatiana Nikolaeva at 3 p.m. and nine-seed Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum at 6:30 p.m., respectively.
The ninth-seeded doubles pair of Leenabanchong and Matoula will face Minnesota's duo of Caitlyn Merzbacher and Mehdish Safdar at 8 a.m. on Friday morning. Dadireddy and Ploner will play their first doubles match of the weekend against Northern Iowa's Savanna Hunt and Gisela Kemper at 10 a.m. Matches in the round of 32 will follow in the afternoon on Friday.
