MALIBU, Calif. – The University of Tulsa Tennis duo of Ksenia Laskutova and Or Ram-Harel finished the opening day at the Oracle/ITA Masters unbeaten, winning two doubles matches together before beginning singles play with opening round wins.

Laskutova and Ram-Harel took the court for their mixed doubles matches against the pair of Xavier's Sydney Liggins and St. John's Roberto Livi, dropping just a single game on their way to defeating the Big East pair 6-1.

Laskutova and Ram-Harel remained perfect in mixed doubles on the day in their second match against the Big 12 duo of Oklahoma State's Viktoriya Lushkova and Texas' Yuya Ito, taking the match 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Ram-Harel would meet up with Livi again, this time in the senior's opening singles match of the tournament. Ram-Harel saved two break points in the opening set, but could not come out on top as he fell 6-3. He bounced back strongly in the second set, breaking the only serve in a 6-4 win before going on to win the next set to take the match 6-3.

In her singles match in the morning again Marianna Petrei of Idaho, Laskutova came out of the gate slowly as she could not come away with a game in the first set as she was shutout 6-0. The junior recovered nicely in the second set, winning three of three break points while holding Petrei to two breaks, taking the set 6-4 to send the match to the third. Laskutova only converted on three of six break points in the match-deciding set, but held Petrei to just a 40-percent break conversion rate Laskutova took the final set 6-4.

Play at the Oracle/ITA Masters will continue tomorrow and through the weekend, wrapping up on Sunday.
