The Tulsa women's basketball team got the 2016-17 season underway with the team's first official practice today at the Donald W. Reynolds Center under the direction of sixth-year head coach Matilda Mossman.

The Golden Hurricane returns eight letterwinners, including two starters, and one squad member, and welcomes five newcomers this year.  The TU roster features three seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and five freshmen.

Tulsa will play a 29-game regular season schedule, which features NCAA Champion UConn in a home-and-home series, as well as Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts and the 2016 WNIT Champions South Dakota.  Thirteen of Tulsa's opponents played in the postseason last year, including NCAA teams BYU, Kansas State, Oklahoma, UConn and USF; WNIT teams Arkansas State, Little Rock, Memphis, Saint Louis, South Dakota, Temple and Tulane; and WBI participant New Mexico.

Tulsa will play a pair of exhibition games, including Rogers State and Southern Nazarene on October 27 and November 3, respectively, before kicking off the regular season at UMKC on November 11.  TU will play two more road games before the home opener against South Dakota on November 20.

Women's season tickets are on sale now for just $50.  All tickets are general admission.  For season tickets call the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.GoTU (4688) or stop by the TU Athletic Ticket Office located in the Reynolds Center.
