TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Volleyball will wrap up their four-match road trip this weekend as they travel to Florida for a pair of matches against Central Florida and South Florida, beginning with a match tomorrow against the Knights at 6 p.m.
TU leads the all-time series against former C-USA foe and current AAC member UCF 11-4 dating back to their first meeting in 1986. Both squads have split the season series with each other over their last three seasons in the same conference dating back to 2012 sans the 2013 season when UCF left C-USA to join The American. The Knights currently stand third in the AAC standings with a 6-2 record in conference play, led by Jale Hervey's 4.19 kills-per-set for a total of 302 this season.
The Hurricane lead the all-time series against USF 3-1 dating back to when Tulsa joined the American Athletic Conference in 2014. Tulsa swept the Bulls during both matchups in 2015, dropping just one set along the way. The USF defense averages 16.9 digs-per-set this year with three different players eclipsing the 200 digs mark through 20 matches while their offense attacks successfully at a .241 clip.
RATING PERCENTAGE INDEX…
Tulsa currently sits 68 on this week's RPI rankings that came out on Monday and currently have the fifth-highest ranking in the AAC. As a conference, the AAC ranks sixth nationally on the index.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES…
Senior outside hitter Rebecca Reeve recorded her ninth double-double of the season on Wednesday as she compiled 13 kills and 20 digs in the Hurricane loss to SMU. Through 20 matches this year, Reeve has reached double-digit kills 14 times and tallied double-digit digs 12 times, posting a season high of 17 and 23, respectively.
CONFERENCE HALFWAY POINT…
Tulsa's matches against UCF and USF will complete the first half of the American Athletic Conference season for the Hurricane, leaving 10 matches remaining on the schedule. TU will play the majority of those matches at home in the Reynolds Center as they are slated to host six of the final 10 matches. The remaining four road contests for TU will be played at East Carolina, Cincinnati, UConn, and Temple.
