
Tulsa Volleyball to Host Annual Pink Match Against Tulane Friday

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Volleyball team is set to host a pair of matches this weekend at the Reynolds Center, beginning with their annual pink match to raise breast cancer awareness on Friday at 7 p.m. against Tulane. The first 75 fans at the match on Friday will receive a pink and white 'Cane rally towel. The Hurricane will wrap up play this weekend on Sunday as they take on Houston at 1 p.m. on Hurricane Halloween.
Tulsa (13-9, 2-8 AAC) return home to after a four-match road trip that completed the first half of The American Athletic Conference season. The Hurricane will begin the second half of the conference season against Tulane (13-9, 5-5 AAC), who leads the all-time series against TU 14-13 after winning a five-set match at their place on Oct. 7. The Green Wave are led by the duo of Sarah Ray and Justine Bowers, who rank third in the AAC in kills and first in assists, respectively.
The Hurricane will take on Houston (5-16, 0-10 AAC) Sunday after defeating the Cougars in five sets on Sept. 30 on the road. TU holds a 15-7 series lead on Houston dating back to 2005 and have won two of the last three, with each road team coming away with victories in the previous three matchups.
PINK OUT MATCH…
Tulsa will play their annual pink out match for breast cancer awareness on Friday against Tulane. TU won their pink out match against UConn last season in a five-set battle after defeating SMU the season prior. The first 75 fans in attendance will receive a pink and white 'Cane rally towel.
LAST TIME OUT…
The Hurricane fell in their road matches last weekend, playing a tightly contested match against UCF on Friday in which every set was decided by two points before dropping a four-set match to USF on Sunday. Tulsa recorded a .242 hitting-percentage against the Bulls, their highest in a match since they tallied a .250 percentage in a win over Oral Roberts on Sept. 16. Sophomore Rachel Moore hit .611 in the match with 12 kills as one of three different Hurricane attackers to reach double-digit kills.
RATING PERCENTAGE INDEX (RPI)…
Tulsa fell 11 spots down from 68 to 79 on the latest NCAA RPI that was released on Monday. The Hurricane rank fifth among American Athletic Conference competition on the index, who as a conference ranks sixth nationally with five teams in the top 80.
