
Tulsa Volleyball Falls at Home to UConn in Three

TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa Volleyball team dropped their third straight match on Sunday afternoon, falling to the University of Connecticut in three sets at the Reynolds Center. The Huskies hit an effective .333 in the match while Tulsa hit just .151.
Tulsa's most effective attacking came in the first set as they hit .316 in the frame, but fell to UConn in a tight one 25-23 as the Huskies put together a .385 hitting-percentage. Brooke Berryhill served an ace for TU's final lead of the first set as UConn eventually grabbed a 10-6 lead. The Hurricane pulled within one five times down the stretch, including after a Rachel Moore kill at 21-20 and a Trinity Alualu smash at 24-23.
UConn took a 5-4 lead in the second set and ran with it, extending their lead to 10 at 19-9. Tulsa responded with four consecutive points to pull within six behind Moore and Bohannon kills at 19-13, but were outscored 6-1 down the stretch as the Huskies took the second set 25-14.
The Hurricane came out of the halftime break and built themselves a 5-0 lead in the third after a Jaime Rahilly kill to start things off followed by another Berryhill service ace. UConn strung together four straight to pull within one before eventually tying things up at 7-7 on their way to taking a 10-8 lead. Tulsa continued to answer Husky points midway through the set, putting together three straight side-outs to remain within one, but could not put together an attack to tie it as UConn eventually put together five straight points to take control of the set. Back-to-back Rebecca Reeve kills cut the lead down to three before UConn scored the final two to win the set 25-20.
Bohannon led the Tulsa attack with 11 kills on the afternoon, including five in the opening set while Reeve and Berryhill chipped in double-digit digs at 13 and 11, respectively.
The Hurricane head out on the road as they continue American Athletic Conference play on Wednesday against first-place SMU at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the week with a contest against Memphis on Sunday at 1 p.m.
