TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross country teams will run at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on Friday at Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City, Iowa.

The women's 6K race begins at 11 a.m., and the men's 10K race begins at noon. Click here for complete regional information.

The Golden Hurricane men are ranked No. 23 in the nation and No. 3 in the Midwest Region, while the women's squad is ranked fifth in the Midwest Region, by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The TU men's team is looking for a sixth-straight appearance in the NCAA Championships, and its first automatic bid since 2014. The top two teams and top four individuals not on an advancing team from each region earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind. Additional teams and individuals are chosen through an at-large selection process following the regional competition.

The Midwest Region consists of Division I schools located in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois, across 13 conferences. A total of 36 women's teams and 33 men's teams will run in the meet on Friday.

Tulsa men's entrants include: seniors Henry Pearce and Luke Traynor, juniors Dallas Elmore, Ben Preisner, Adam Roderique and Kirk Smith, sophomores Ellis Coon, Austin Del Rosso, Isaac Dobos and Jay Ort, and freshmen Adam Breaux and Stuart McNutt.

The women's entrants include: seniors Clara Langley, Olivia Lopez and Stacie Taylor, juniors Alyssa Jones, Nicole Lee and Danielle Medearis, sophomore Alyssa Bolliger, and freshmen Ashley Barnes, Avery Culpepper, Reagan Hausmann, Amanda Heard and Adrena Mazzei.

The TU men won the American Athletic Conference Championship on Oct. 29, claiming The American title for the third straight year. Traynor finished first in that meet, landing the third straight individual conference title for the Hurricane.

Last season at the Midwest Regional Championships, both teams placed fourth, and earned at-large bids to the NCAA Championships – the first time both teams ran at the national championships in the same year.
