STORRS, Conn. – The University of Tulsa Volleyball team rallied to win the final two sets on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated UConn on the road in five sets (14-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 15-11). The Hurricane (19-12 overall, 8-11 The American) scored the final four points of the fifth set to secure the victory, improving to 4-3 on the season in matches that go the distance.

Rebecca Reeve led the way for Tulsa with her 14th double-double of the season, compiling 14 kills to go along with a season-high 25 digs, the fourth time this season and second in as many matches that she has reached that mark. Trinity Alualu tied her season-high for kills with 16 on a .350 hitting-percentage while Erica Bohannon added 14.

UConn (16-14 overall, 7-12 The American) scored five out of the first six points in the opening set, holding their steady lead throughout before taking control down the stretch with a 5-0 run in a 25-14 win. Tulsa pulled within striking distance multiple times in the early stages of the set, but the Hurricane runs were answered by the Huskies after cutting the lead down to three and four during the frame.

Jaime Rahilly came up with back-to-back blocks in the second to cap off a 4-0 run that gave TU an 8-4 advantage. Another string of four straight put the Hurricane up seven by way of kills from Emily Thorson and Reeve before a run of three stretched the lead to nine. UConn answered with a pair of runs, the first to pull within three at 18-15 before coming within two at 22-20. Tulsa called a timeout up one at set point before winning on a Husky attacking error. The Hurricane out-hit UConn .200 to .175 in the set.

A tightly contested third set saw 12 ties in an eventual UConn win after the Huskies took a two-point lead at 18-16 in a 25-21 win. Alualu had six kills in the set, including three that gave the Hurricane a one-score advantage.

Reeve recorded three kills during a 4-0 Tulsa run that gave them control in the fourth set, 14-9 as the Hurricane were hitting above .450 in the opening stages of the set on the way to finishing at a .326 clip. A pair of 3-0 runs by both teams kept it close down the stretch after Tulsa went ahead by six. Bohannon's 11th kill of the day put the Hurricane up five on their way to a 25-22 win.

Tulsa used a 3-0 run to take a 7-4 advantage in the fifth after kills from Alualu and Rachel Moore before the set was all squared up at eight. UConn took a one-point lead three times before Reeve sent a Husky attempt back to start a string of four straight Hurricane points to end the match.

Brooke Berryhill recorded over 20 digs for the 17th time this season as she finished with 22 for a Tulsa squad that had 100 on the afternoon. Ashton Anderson finished with a double-double, dishing out 36 assists along with 14 digs.

The Hurricane will wrap up American Athletic Conference play on Friday when they take on Temple at noon.
