GREENVILLE, N.C. – The University of Tulsa Volleyball team earned their third straight American Athletic Conference win on Friday evening, outscoring East Carolina by 20 over the final two sets on their way to sweeping the Pirates on the road in three sets. The Hurricane (16-9 overall, 5-8 The American) held the Pirates (14-9 overall, 4-9 The American) to a .032 hitting-percentage, the lowest by a Hurricane opponent this season.

Erica Bohannon led the Tulsa attack on the night with 11 kills while Jaime Rahilly and Emily Thorson added nine and five, who both hit above .500 in the opening two frames. As a team, Tulsa out-hit ECU .306 to .078 heading into the break.

The Hurricane took their first lead of the opening set at 9-8 on a Rahilly kill, building their lead to 23-16 after a Brooke Berryhill service ace. Thorson came up with a big kill for TU to see set point at 26-25 after ECU put together a 5-0 run to knot it up at 24-24. Rachel Moore finished the set off with a kill to give TU an advantage after one, 27-25. The sophomore finished with two aces on the night for a Hurricane team that totaled seven.

Tulsa built up another big lead in the second set, but would not let their foot off the gas as they put together a dominant performance in a 25-12 win as they out-scored ECU 13-3 in the final half of the set after leading by three at 12-9. Trinity Alualu, Moore, and Rahilly closed out the set with three kills to cap off the win. Alualu finished the evening with eight kills on a .316 hitting-percentage.

Bohannon put TU ahead 6-2 after the break before ECU pulled within two. Tulsa responded by outscoring the Pirates 8-2 over the next 10 points, taking advantage of multiple ECU mistakes to go up 16-8. Taylor Horsfall pushed the lead to double-digits with her first career service ace at 22-12 as Tulsa eventually closed out the set, 25-18.

Ashton Anderson and Mariah Pardo put dished out 20 and 17 assists respectively while Berryhill put together a team-high 13 digs.

The Hurricane will travel to Cincinnati to take on the preseason conference favorite Bearcats Sunday at noon in a rematch of Tulsa's conference season opener.
