Berryhill and Bohannon Honored by Conference After Unbeaten Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa seniors Brooke Berryhill and Erica Bohannon were recognized by the American Athletic Conference today for their play over the weekend, helping the Hurricane go unbeaten while picking up their third and fourth straight wins.
Berryhill was named The American Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after helping the Hurricane pick up two road wins as they swept East Carolina before beating first-place Cincinnati in four. Outside hitter Erica Bohannon was named to The American Honor Roll for her performances over the two-match span, averaging five kills per set for the weekend.
Berryhill (Haslet, Texas) posted 20 against Cincinnati in a four-set win on Sunday evening, marking the 14th time this season that the senior has reached that number in a match. The libero also added seven assists against the Bearcats while pitching in two service aces. On Friday, Berryhill compiled 13 digs in a sweep of East Carolina.
Earlier in the season Berryhill became the second Hurricane in program history to eclipse the 2,000-career digs mark and currently stands at 2,260. Berryhill entered the weekend ranked second among NCAA active career leaders in digs.
Bohannon (Coppell, Texas) totaled 35 kills for the week, including a season-high 24 against Cincinnati in which she had four down the stretch in the match sealing fourth set while hitting a match-best .321. The senior also added 10 digs to complete the double-double on the afternoon. Bohannon currently ranks second all-time at TU in career kills with 1,654 and came into the week ranked fourth among NCAA active career leaders in the category.
The Hurricane return home this week for a four-match home stand, beginning with a matchup against USF on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Center before wrapping up the weekend against UCF on Saturday at 1 p.m.
