The University of Tulsa Head Volleyball Coach Ryan Wills sat down with Bruce Howard to discuss his team's 2016 campaign.
The Hurricane (19-13 overall, 8-12 The American) opened their season at 11-1, defeating Alabama at home during the first weekend of play before eventually rattling off nine straight wins on their way to winning three straight non-conference tournament titles. In American Athletic Conference play, the Hurricane put together a streak of five straight victories that was highlighted by a win over then first-place Cincinnati on the road, who qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Seniors Erica Bohannon and Brooke Berryhill were named first-team and second-team all conference as they rounded out their prolific careers at TU. Bohannon finished her four-year run as a Hurricane with the second-most career kills (1,741) while Berryhill ended up second on TU's all-time list for career digs (2,364).
Tulsa had one of the nation's best defenses in 2016, finishing second in the country in total digs and third in digs per set while leading the conference in both statistical categories.
