Tulsa Women’s Tennis Defeats No. 43-Ranked DePaul, 4-0, Saturday Afternoon

West Lafayette, Ind. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis team defeated No. 43-ranked DePaul in a 4-0 decision Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Tennis Center in the West Lafayette, Ind. The No. 37-ranked Golden Hurricane won the doubles point in the second and third flights. In singles play, flights four, five and six won clinching the TU victory, which also allowed for the first three flights not to finish play.
 
Tulsa improves to 8-1 overall, while DePaul falls to 2-5 overall.
 
In doubles play, TU earned an automatic victory in the third flight due to a DePaul walkover, and in the second flight Mahitha Dadireddy and Saana Saarteinen defeated Yuliya Shupenia and Milica Tesic in a 6-4 decision. Flight one did not finish play, but Renata Kuricova and Ksenia Laskutova were up 5-4 on Rebeca Mitrea and Patricia Lancranjan before play was stopped.
 
In singles play, the Hurricane earned another automatic point due to a DePaul walkover on flight six. Marcelina Cichon defeated Jarret Fisher, 6-0, 6-1, in the fourth flight, before Yelena Nemchen defeated Milica Tesic, 6-1, 6-2, to clinch the TU victory. Cichon is now 8-0 in singles play since beginning dual play, and she is riding a 13 match win streak which is a team best. Flights one, two and three did not finish play.
