
Tulsa Track Claims Event Two Titles on Sunday at American Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After Sunday's first day of competition at the American Atheltic Conference Indoor Championships, the Tulsa men picked up two event titles and leads the men's team rankings with 48 team points. The Tulsa women finished the first day of competition in seventh place with 17 points.
Senior long distance runner Tim Rackers won his first event title of the season in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 4:21.38. The Hurricane also claimed victory in the men's distance medley team as Elijah Silva, Charles Johnson, Isaac Sanders and Simon Greiner combined to turn in a winning time of 9:56.46. Paul Akintade jumped 7.02m for fifth palce in the men's long jump, while Alex Lybarger placed ninth in the men's weight throw at 17.30m.
Senior sprinter Bryce Robinson had first-place time in qualifying runs for the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.64, and the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.73. Robinson's 20.73 mark in the 200-meter dash is a new meet record at the American Indoor Championships.
Stacie Taylor had a second place finish in the women's 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:49.59 to pace the Hurricane women on the first day of competition, while Nicole Lee finished in sixth place in the 5,000m with a time of 17:17.55
The American Indoor Championships are set to conclude Monday night.
