TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa senior Caitlin Sill was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 0.93 ERA last week, the league office announced Monday.
Sill, a native of Tuttle, Okla., won both of her starts, including a two-hit shutout of No. 21 Texas on Saturday. In that 3-0 victory, she induced 13 ground ball outs and six pop and fly outs in the game. In Friday's 5-3, extra-inning win over Weber State, Sill went the distance, tossing all eight innings. She struck out five batters and allowed two earned runs.
This is the first American Athletic Conference weekly honor for Sill, and the third award of the season for the Golden Hurricane. TU claimed both the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards on Feb. 22.
The Hurricane (11-4) plays its home opener this weekend, with the Tulsa Invitational at the Collins Family Softball Complex. TU welcomes Iowa and Lamar, and opens the event at noon Saturday against Iowa.
