The Tulsa football team was anxious and excited to get on the practice field today for the first workout of spring drills. The Golden Hurricane practiced for two hours Tuesday afternoon on the H.A. Chapman Stadium turf.

"I thought our energy level was really good. From an execution standpoint we were hit and miss, but that's to be expected on the first day," said Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery "Overall, I liked our intensity and emotion. We'll have to maintain this energy level from now until we finish spring drills."

Montgomery was excited about the retention of his team from last year.

"I thought our guys executed well and had their eyes in the right spot. Obviously, we're going to miss some reads because of it being day one and we're rusty, but as far as knowing what to do I thought we retained a ton," added Montgomery.

Montgomery has been impressed with the accomplishments of his team during the winter workouts and saw a hint of that today on the field.

"I thought guys we're really flying around, and the young guys were moving well. You saw some bursts that you probably didn't see last year. Physically, they do look different. My early impression coming off the field is that I feel good about what we've done and where we're headed," added Montgomery.
