Tulsa Women’s Basketball Team Earns Sixth Seed in The American Tournament

The Tulsa women's basketball team earned the No. 6 seed in the 2016 American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship and will face No. 11 seed Houston on Friday, March 4 in the First Round at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.

The Golden Hurricane (11-18, 8-10 The American) has a 14-6 lead in the all-time series with the Cougars (6-23, 2-16 The American), including a 79-62 win in Houston and a 44-28 victory in Tulsa this season. For a full game preview, check back at TulsaHurricane.com later this week.

UConn earned The American regular-season title for the third consecutive season and clinched the No. 1 seed in the 2016 Championship. The remaining teams finished in order USF, Temple, Memphis, Tulane, Tulsa, SMU, East Carolina, Cincinnati, UCF and Houston.

The winner of the American Athletic Conference Championship will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
