TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa senior Caitlin Sill picked up her second American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after going 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in the circle last week, the league office announced Monday.
Sill, a native of Tuttle, Okla., earned a complete-game victory over No. 22 Minnesota on Tuesday, then went 2-0 without allowing a run in two outings over the weekend at the Rock Chalk Challenge. She allowed no runs in her final 13 innings of the week, spanning all three games.
In her two outings at the Rock Chalk Challenge, Sill struck out 15 batters in 11 shutout innings. She struck out seven batters in her three-hit five-inning shutout of UMKC on Saturday, and tallied eight strikeouts in her six-inning relief outing against Saint Louis on Sunday. She earned the complete-game victory over Minnesota at home on Tuesday, allowing three earned runs.
This is the second American Athletic Conference weekly honor for Sill, and the fourth award of the season for the Golden Hurricane. Sill also won the award on Feb. 29
The Hurricane (21-5) opens American Athletic Conference play this weekend, when it travels to Houston for a three-game series Thursday through Saturday, March 24-26.
