Box Score

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team fell to Arkansas, 4-1, Tuesday evening at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

The Golden Hurricane dropped to 27-11 on the season, while the Razorbacks improved to 17-25. Arkansas scored three runs in the third inning and one in the fourth, and TU got on the board with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Senior Caitlin Sill (15-4) went the distance, and struck out six batters and allowed one earned run on six hits and took the loss for Tulsa. Grace Moll (12-20) struck out six and allowed a run on three hits in the win.

"We're not playing very well, and we're pressing a little bit. We just have to learn to relax a little bit and go back to the way we were playing," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "I told the team confidence comes as quickly as it went away. That's what we have to focus on, keep grinding, and get through this patch. Every team goes through it every year at some point. We just have to grind our way through this, get a little confidence back, and start playing better again."

Junior third baseman Maggie Withee led off the bottom of the sixth with a swinging bunt single in front of the plate for Tulsa's second hit of the game. She moved around on a walk and fielder's choice, and scored on sophomore shortstop Shelby Estocado's RBI groundout, making the score 4-1.

Arkansas scored three unearned runs in the top of the third inning after a pair of errors and three singles. Second baseman Parker Pocklington singled, then an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt put runners at first at second. Two straight fielder's choice grounders, the second of which was an error on a throw from shortstop attempting to get the force out at third, allowed the first run to score. RBI singles by first baseman Ashley Diaz and right fielder Nicole Schroeder made the score 3-0. A solo home run in the fourth inning by Pocklington made it 4-0.

Freshman second baseman Morgan Neal led off the seventh inning with a double to the fence in left field, but could not advance past second. Senior designated player Kaitlin Allen had TU's first hit in the second inning with a two-out rocket double into the right center field gap, but she was left at second base.

Tulsa plays at Missouri State at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Killian Softball Stadium in Springfield, Mo.
