Softball to Play OU, OSU in Midweek Action

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team plays host to No. 9 Oklahoma at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Collins Family Softball Complex, then travels to take on Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Stillwater.
The Golden Hurricane enters the week 28-11 overall and coming off of a conference bye weekend. TU won at Missouri State, 2-1, on Wednesday in its last outing. The Sooners are 34-7 overall, and ranked No. 9 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 polls and No. 12 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25. TU defeated OSU (22-19), 9-0 in Tulsa on April 6.

This will be the 49th meeting between Tulsa and Oklahoma. Oklahoma leads the series, 38-10. The Sooners have won the four meetings, including 1-0 in 2014 in Norman, and 3-1 in 2013 in Tulsa. The last Hurricane victory in the series was in the 2011 NCAA Norman Regional, a 4-3 win in 11 innings.
This will be the 44th meeting between Tulsa and Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls lead the series, 26-17. The Hurricane has won seven in a row in the series, including a 9-0 win on April 6 in Tulsa. TU also won 3-0 at home and 2-1 in on the road last season. The last OSU win was an 8-3 decision in 2012 in Stillwater, and OSU also won 7-4 in Tulsa that season.
Junior third baseman Maggie Withee leads Tulsa with a .390 batting average, and has totaled 38 runs, seven doubles, 19 walks and a .462 on-base percentage. Freshman designated player Julia Hollingsworth hits .378 batting average, has totaled 23 RBI and 20 runs and posted a .447 on-base percentage. Sophomore shortstop Shelby Estocado hits .336 with a team-high nine home runs and .636 slugging percentage, and has six doubles, 31 RBI and 36 runs. Senior catcher Catherine Horner hits .303 with nine doubles, 24 runs and 20 RBI, and junior left fielder Maddie Withee leads Tulsa with 39 RBI, and hits .289 with six doubles and five home runs.
Senior Caitlin Sill leads Tulsa in the circle with a 1.36 ERA and a 15-4 record. She has allowed a .230 opponent batting average, 23 earned runs and 103 hits in 118.2 innings. Sophomore Emily Watson is 10-7 with a 2.23 ERA, has 131 strikeouts and has allowed 30 earned runs on 73 hits and a .204 opponent batting average in 94.1 innings.
Tulsa is hitting .298 with 230 runs, 207 RBI, 51 doubles, 23 home runs, eight triples, a .432 slugging percentage and a .381 on-base percentage. The Hurricane pitchers have posted a combined 2.06 ERA with 222 strikeouts in 245.0 innings, and allowed a .232 opponent batting average, 219 hits and 72 earned runs.
