Tulsa Women’s Tennis Earns No. 1 Seed in American Athletic Conference Championship Bracket

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa's 31st ranked women's tennis team (18-4 overall) solidified a No. 1 seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship Bracket, as announced by the league office on Monday. The Golden Hurricane will receive a first-round bye in the 11-team bracket into Thursday's quarterfinals, which is set for 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT. 
 
The tournament is set to take place at the Dunavant-Wellford Tennis Center on the campus of Memphis University School in Memphis, Tenn.
 
TU will take on the winner of No. 8 seed Tulane and No. 9 seed UConn, which is the first match of the championship on Wednesday.
 
Senior Saana Saarteinen and sophomore Ksenia Laskutova enter the conference tournament nationally ranked No. 111 and No. 116 in singles play, respectively.
 
Earlier this season, Tulsa defeated Tulane in a 4-0 decision. The Green Wave finished the regular season with an overall 7-13 record. The UConn Huskies finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-9. The Hurricane and the Huskies did not play this season.
 
The women's semifinal matches will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT, with the championship match taking place on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.
