Softball Plays Host to No. 20 USF This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team plays host to No. 20 USF in a three-game American Athletic Conference series Friday through Sunday at the Collins Family Softball Complex. Game times are 5 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
The Golden Hurricane enters the weekend 28-11 overall and 5-4 in conference play, while the Bulls are 39-11 overall and 11-1 in The American. TU returns to the field for the first time in nine days after a conference bye last weekend and a pair of rainouts in the midweek. The Hurricane defeated Missouri State, 2-1, in its last outing on April 13. USF has won seven of its last eight games, and fell at No. 1 Florida, 3-0, Wednesday.

Tulsa and USF have played three times. USF leads the series, 2-1. The Bulls won two of three games last season in Tampa, winning 8-7 (10 inn.) and 7-6, before the Hurricane won the finale, 1-0.
Junior third baseman Maggie Withee leads Tulsa with a .382 batting average, and has totaled 38 runs, seven doubles, 19 walks and a .462 on-base percentage. Freshman designated player Julia Hollingsworth hits .378, has totaled 23 RBI and 20 runs and posted a .447 on-base percentage. Sophomore shortstop Shelby Estocado hits .336 with a team-high nine home runs and .636 slugging percentage, and has six doubles, 31 RBI and 36 runs. Senior catcher Catherine Horner hits .303 with nine doubles, 24 runs and 20 RBI, and junior left fielder Maddie Withee leads Tulsa with 39 RBI, and hits .289 with six doubles and five home runs.
Senior Caitlin Sill leads Tulsa in the circle with a 1.36 ERA and a 15-4 record. She has allowed a .230 opponent batting average, 23 earned runs and 103 hits in 118.2 innings. Sophomore Emily Watson is 10-7 with a 2.23 ERA, has 131 strikeouts and has allowed 30 earned runs on 73 hits and a .204 opponent batting average in 94.1 innings.
Tulsa is hitting .298 with 230 runs, 207 RBI, 51 doubles, 23 home runs, eight triples, a .432 slugging percentage and a .381 on-base percentage. The Hurricane pitchers have posted a combined 2.06 ERA with 222 strikeouts in 245.0 innings, and allowed a .232 opponent batting average, 219 hits and 72 earned runs.
