Softball Takes on Wichita State at 3 p.m. Wednesday

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team plays host to Wichita State in a non-conference contest at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
 
The Golden Hurricane enters the week at 28-14 overall, while the Shockers come in with a 28-18 overall mark. TU is looking to bounce back from a three-game slide, while WSU has won seven in a row. The Shockers claimed the first game between the teams this season, 11-3, on March 30 in Wichita.
 
Tickets are $5 general admission, and youth 8th grade and under wearing their softball jersey will receive free admission. Live video and live stats will be available on www.TulsaHurricane.com.
 
This will be the 43rd meeting between Tulsa and Wichita State. The series is tied, 21-21. The Shockers won earlier this season, 11-3, on March 30 in Wichita, and have won two in a row in the series, including a 7-2 win at Wichita last season. The Hurricane won four meetings in a row from 2011-15. TU is 14-8 all-time against WSU in Tulsa.
 
Junior third baseman Maggie Withee leads Tulsa with a .373 batting average, and has totaled 39 runs, seven doubles, 20 walks and a .452 on-base percentage. Freshman designated player Julia Hollingsworth hits .367, has totaled 23 RBI and 22 runs and posted a .437 on-base percentage. Sophomore shortstop Shelby Estocado hits .319 with a team-high 10 home runs and .622 slugging percentage, and has six doubles, 34 RBI and 37 runs. Freshman second baseman Morgan Neal hits .311 with seven extra base hits and 24 runs scored. Junior left fielder Maddie Withee leads Tulsa with 40 RBI, and hits .295 with six doubles and six home runs.
 
Senior Caitlin Sill leads Tulsa in the circle with a 1.40 ERA and a 15-7 record. She has allowed a .235 opponent batting average, 27 earned runs and 120 hits in 135.1 innings. Sophomore Emily Watson is 10-7 with a 2.55 ERA, has 138 strikeouts and has allowed 30 earned runs on 82 hits and a .218 opponent batting average in 98.2 innings.
 
Tulsa is hitting .294 with 238 runs, 213 RBI, 52 doubles, 25 home runs, eight triples, a .425 slugging percentage and a .379 on-base percentage. The Hurricane pitchers have posted a combined 2.16 ERA with 233 strikeouts in 266.0 innings, and allowed a .239 opponent batting average, 245 hits and 82 earned runs.
