Majed Kilani Named American Athletic Conference Male Tennis Player of the Week

TULSA, Okla. –  The University of Tulsa men's tennis freshman Majed Kilani was named the American Athletic Conference male tennis player of the week, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Last weekend, Kilani went 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles play to help the No. 18 Golden Hurricane to top-25 wins over No. 8 Oklahoma State, 4-1, and No. 23 Tulane, 4-3.
 
Kilani teamed up with senior Carlos Bautista to defeat Oklahoma State's Arjun Kadhe and Mateo Ruiz Naranjo in a 6-4 decision.  In singles play against OSU, Kilani defeated Jurence Mendoza, 6-4, 6-4.
 
The talented freshman continued the momentum into the Tulane match as he teamed up with Carlos Bautista again to defeat Ian Van Cott and Tyler Schick in a 6-3 decision. Kilani went on to defeat Tulane's Chi-Shan Jao, 6-3, 7-5, to complete his fourth victory of the weekend.
 
This is Kilani's first career weekly conference accolade.
 
The Hurricane returns to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Tuesday, April 5, to take on Arkansas Pine Bluff at 1:30 p.m.
