
No. 18 Tulsa Men’s Tennis Travels This Weekend For Pair Of Road Matches

TULSA, Okla. – After knocking off two top-25 opponents last weekend, The University of Tulsa men's tennis team moved up six spots to break into the top-20 nationally earning a No. 18 ranking, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Tuesday. TU will travel to Lubbock, Texas, on Friday, April 8, to take on No. 11 Texas Tech, before traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Sunday, April 10, to face the New Mexico Lobos.
The Golden Hurricane (14-9 overall) is ranked in the top-25 for the seventh time this season, and its current national ranking of No. 18 is the highest ranking it has achieved this season. Tulsa is one of five American Athletic Conference teams that are ranked in the top-50 nationally including: Tulsa (18), USF (22), SMU (25), Tulane (27) and Memphis (34).
Junior Or Ram-Harel enters the weekend nationally ranked No. 46 in singles play. Seniors Dylan McCloskey and Matthew Kirby go into this weekend nationally ranked No. 72 in doubles play, while Kirby and freshman Okkie Kellerman enter the weekend ranked No. 77 in doubles play.
The match against Texas Tech marks the ninth match of a ten-match stretch where Tulsa will face only nationally ranked opponents. In the month of April, TU will take on four nationally ranked opponents, and all four of them are currently ranked in the top-25.
In Friday's match, Tulsa will face a Texas Tech team that has compiled an overall 22-3 record this season. Last weekend, the Red Raiders defeated in-state rival No. 38 Baylor in a 4-3 decision. Texas Tech has three athletes that are nationally ranked in singles play, and the Red Raiders have two doubles teams that are nationally ranked.
On Sunday, TU will take on a New Mexico team that has registered an overall 13-13 record this season. Last weekend, the Lobos lost to Utah State, 4-3, before losing to Boise State in a 4-1 decision. New Mexico enters the weekend with one doubles team that is nationally ranked.
