Softball to Play Key Conference Series at UCF

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team is on the road for a three-game American Athletic Conference series at UCF Friday through Sunday at the UCF Softball Complex. TU and UCF play at 4:30 p.m. CT Friday, 1 p.m. CT Saturday and 11 a.m. CT Sunday.

The Golden Hurricane (27-7, 5-1 American) and Knights (24-14, 1-0 American) are at the top of the conference standings entering the third week of league play. The Hurricane has won four in a row and 12 of its last 15 games, while UCF has won four of its last five games, after two contests at UConn were rained out last weekend. The Hurricane is receiving votes in both top-25 polls this week.

Friday's game will be broadcast on the American Digital Network at TheAmerican.org. Live stats will be available for all three games, and live video for Saturday and Sunday games will be available, and links can be found at TulsaHurricane.com.

Tulsa and UCF have played 31 times. Tulsa leads the series, 19-12. The Knights won three of four meetings last season, including two of three in Tulsa and a 1-0 decision in the conference championship game. TU claimed the middle game of the series, 5-4, after dropping the opener 2-1 in an epic 16-inning affair. UCF won the third game, 3-0. Prior to last season, the Hurricane won six in a row and 10 of 11 against the Knights. TU is 6-8 all-time against UCF in Orlando.

Junior left fielder Maddie Withee leads Tulsa with 39 RBI, and hits .318 with six doubles and five home runs. Freshman designated player Julia Hollingsworth leads TU with a .418 batting average, and has tallied 23 RBI and 20 runs. Junior third baseman Maggie Withee hits .377 with 36 runs, seven doubles, 18 walks and a .464 on-base percentage. Freshman second baseman Morgan Neal hits .320 with 13 RBI and 23 runs. Sophomore shortstop Shelby Estocado hits .367 with a team-high nine home runs, six doubles, 29 RBI and 36 runs, and leads TU with a .704 slugging percentage. Senior center fielder Jodi Edmiston hits .306 with 26 runs, and first baseman Jocelyn Sheffield has put up 24 RBI, four home runs and hits .288.

Senior Caitlin Sill leads Tulsa in the circle with a 1.37 ERA and a 15-1 record. She has allowed a .218 opponent batting average, 20 earned runs and 83 hits in 102.0 innings. Sophomore Emily Watson is 9-6 with a 2.19 ERA, has 117 strikeouts and has allowed 25 earned runs on 61 hits and a .203 opponent batting average in 80.0 innings.

Tulsa is hitting .317 with 224 runs, 201 RBI, 47 doubles, 22 home runs, eight triples, a .462 slugging percentage and a .399 on-base percentage. The Hurricane pitchers have posted a combined 2.10 ERA with 196 strikeouts in 213.0 innings, and allowed a .228 opponent batting average, 186 hits and 64 earned runs.
