Softball Lands Four on All-American Athletic Conference First Team

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team landed four players on the All-American Athletic Conference First Team, as seven Golden Hurricane players earned all-conference honors, as voted by the conference head coaches.
 
Junior outfielder Maddie Withee, junior third baseman Maggie Withee, sophomore shortstop Shelby Estocado and freshman designated player/outfielder Julia Hollingsworth all earned first-team all-conference honors. Senior pitcher Caitlin Sill and senior catcher Catherine Horner earned second-team honors. Hollingsworth and fellow freshman Morgan Neal were both selected to the All-Rookie Team.
 
Maddie Withee, who was a unanimous first-team selection, was named to the American Athletic Conference First Team for the second straight year. Maggie Withee and Estocado earned first-team honors for the first time, while Horner and Sill picked up second-team honors for the second year in a row.
 
Maddie Withee, a native of Arlington, Texas, leads The American with 44 RBI overall, and ranked second with 14 RBI in league play. In conference play, she hit .373, tallied 13 runs, and compiled a .450 on-base percentage and a .529 slugging percentage. Overall, she hits .329 with seven doubles, six home runs and 26 runs scored. She has struck out just seven times all season, including zero strikeouts in 18 conference games. She is the 11th TU player to record at least 44 RBI in a single season. She leads the team with 16 multiple hit games and 14 multiple RBI games. Withee was named conference Player of the Week on Feb. 22 and May 9.
 
Maggie Withee picked up her second all-conference honor, after earning second-team honors last season. She ranked second in the league with a .415 batting average and 27 hits, and third with 16 runs scored in conference play. Overall, she ranks second in the league in hits (63) and runs scored (45), and fourth in batting average (.380) and on-base percentage (.447). She has totaled eight doubles and 21 walks, and has 16 multiple hit games.
 
Estocado, who hails from Las Vegas, Nev., ranks second in The American in RBI (15) and home runs (4) in conference play, third in slugging percentage (.608) and fourth in runs scored (17). Overall, she ranks third in the league in home runs (11), and fourth in RBI (39), runs (45) and slugging percentage (.619). She hits .340, and has 15 multiple hit games and 11 multiple RBI games.
 
Hollingsworth, a native of Ennis, Texas, hit .321 in conference play, with 11 RBI, 10 runs scored and five doubles. Overall, Hollingsworth hits .339 with nine doubles, 28 RBI, 27 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, and has 10 multiple hit games and seven multiple RBI games. She is the first Tulsa freshman to earn first-team all-conference honors since former All-American Aimee Creger (2011-14) was a first-team selection in 2011.
 
Sill leads Tulsa and ranks third in The American with a 1.87 ERA, and has posted a 17-10 overall record with 19 complete games and six shutouts in 25 starts and 164.2 innings. The Tuttle, Okla., native ranks third in conference play with five wins, and second overall in wins, fourth in strikeouts looking (30) and fourth in innings pitched (164.2). She was named The American Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 29 and March 21.
 
Horner, a native of La Canada, Calif., hit .351 with 10 runs scored, eight RBI and five doubles in conference play. She allowed no passed balls and caught three runners stealing in league games. She has caught nine runners stealing and two pickoffs, and has compiled 30 runs scored, 23 RBI, 11 doubles and 22 walks this season. Her in-conference .982 fielding percentage in 113 chances is third-best among players with as many fielding chances.
 
Neal started 50 games at second base this season, and is hitting .301 overall and has scored 26 runs. The Springdale, Ark., native has also totaled 20 RBI and seven extra base hits, and posted a .386 on-base percentage. In league play, she hit .281 with eight RBI, six runs and a .317 on-base percentage, and committed just one error.
 
The third-seeded Golden Hurricane opens the American Athletic Conference Championship against sixth-seeded East Carolina at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
