Tulsa Men’s Track and Field Team Leads After First Day of 2016 American Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ORLANDO, Fla. –– The University of Tulsa men's track and field team leads the team standings after the first day of competition in the 2016 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are held at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex in Orlando, Fla. Through two events, the women's team is tied in eighth place with Tulane.

The men's team collected 23 points in the men's 10,000-meter run to lift the Golden Hurricane into first place. Tulsa grabbed the top-two spots and four of the top seven spots in the men's 10,000-meter run. Junior Luke Traynor won the event with a time of 30:39.59 which is a new stadium-record. Senior Tim Rackers finished runner-up with a time of 30:49.23. Junior Adam Roderique clocked a sixth place time of 31:24.14, while freshman teammate Stuart McNutt recorded a seventh place time of 31:45.26.

In the men's field events, senior Alex Lybarger picked up a 10^th place finish in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 48.84m (160-03).

The women's squad picked up one point through the two events. Freshmen Cecilya Johnson and Baylor Reese finished in 16^th and 23^rd place in the women's hammer throw with distances of 49.47m (162-04) and 38.27m (125-07), respectively. In the women's 10,000-meter run, junior Danielle Medearis recorded an eighth place finish with a time of 36:26.03. Junior Clara Langley clocked a 13^th place time of 37:49.15 to conclude the women's 10,000-meter run.
