Softball to Play Ole Miss in NCAA Norman Regional

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa softball team will make its eighth appearance in the NCAA Softball Championship when it faces off against Ole Miss in the Norman Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, in Norman, Okla. The game will be televised on ESPN3.

The Golden Hurricane (35-19) earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after defeating No. 24 USF, 4-0, in the American Athletic Conference Championship game on Saturday at the Collins Family Softball Complex. This is Tulsa's first NCAA appearance since 2014. Ole Miss (39-20) earned an at-large bid out of the SEC.

Regional host and No. 3 national seed Oklahoma will play Wichita State in the other opening round game at 8 p.m. Friday. The four-team regional is double elimination.

"It's probably where everybody expected we would end up first. This is our eighth trip and five of them have been to OU," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "It doesn't matter where you go, there are good teams in every regional. You have to go in playing your best. I like the way we were playing coming out of the conference tournament, and we're excited for the opportunity to continue."

Tulsa and Ole Miss have met six times in softball, and the Hurricane leads the series, 5-1. The last meeting came in 2004, a 3-0 TU win in Oxford.

The Hurricane previously played in the 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 NCAA Tournaments.

Tulsa is joined by USF and UCF as American Athletic Conference members in the field.
Tickets for the NCAA Softball Norman Regional go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday through the OU Athletics Ticket Office. General admission all-session tickets are available online at SoonerSports.com and by calling 405-325-2424 or 800-456-4668.

Prices are $25 for general admission adult all-session tickets and $20 for general admission youth (ages 2-18) and senior citizens (aged 55 and older). Each day of the regional is considered one session and a session ticket is good for all games in one day. Children under one year of age are admitted free.

Single-session tickets, if availability remains, will not go on sale until Friday at the Oklahoma Softball Complex box office. Single session tickets are $10 for general admission adult and $8 for general admission for youth/senior citizens.

Orders will be process on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.
