
Tulsa Men’s Track & Field in Sixth Place Through Day Three of the American OTF Championships; Women in 10th Place

ORLANDO, Fla. – Through three days of competition at the 2016 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Champions, The University of Tulsa men's and women's track & field teams are in sixth and 10th place, respectively. The championships will conclude on Sunday, May 15, at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex in Orlando, Fla.
The Golden Hurricane compiled an event title and three top-five finishes on the day.
Sophomore Ben Preisner picked up TU's event title in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, and he also set a new stadium record in the event with a time of 8:58.21. Senior Bryce Robinson qualified for the finals of the men's 100-meter dash with a second place finish Section 3 with a time of 10.56 placing fourth overall. Tulsa's last top-five finish on the men's side came from freshman Bailey Stewart who finished third in Section 2 of the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 47.77 placing fifth overall. Stewart's mark qualified him for the finals of the 400-meter dash, which is set to take place tomorrow. Another notable performance on the men's side came from sophomore Paul Akintade who registered a seventh place finish in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.15m.
The women's team had just three athletes that competed in two events on the day. TU's lone top-five finish on the women's side came from sophomore Alyssa Bolliger who clocked a fifth place time of 10:47.61 in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sophomores Candalyn Lyons and Quin Patterson finished in 16th and 22nd place in the women's 100-meter dash clocking times of 12.04 and 12.36, respectively.
