
Tulsa Track and Field Athletes Competing at 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Preliminary Championships Today

TULSA, Okla. – After a days delay due to inclement weather, the preliminary round of the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, is now underway at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan. The University of Tulsa track and field has six athletes competing on Friday.
Earlier this morning, junior Luke Traynor registered a fifth place finish in the men's 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:53.17. Traynor's top-5 finish was enough to advance him to the next round in Eugene, Ore. His teammate, senior Tim Rackers, clocked a 35th place time of 30:48.02 in the same event.
Later today, sophomore Ben Preisner will participate in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, while freshman Robert Tully will compete in the men's 800-meter run. On the women's side, freshman Cecilya Johnson and sophomore Kiara Jones are set to compete in the women's discus and the women's 400-meter hurdles, respectively.
Junior Marc Scott will represent the Golden Hurricane in the men's 5,000-meter run on Saturday, May 28, which is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
