Tulsa Men’s Golf Team Finishes in 9th Place at The American Championships

The Tulsa men's golf team completed the season in ninth place at the American Athletic Conference Championships on Tuesday. The Golden Hurricane finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 924 following today's round of 307 total at the par-72 Quarry Course at Black Diamond Ranch.
 
Junior Matthew Marquez turned in his best round of the tournament, and the best tournament round for the Tulsa team. He carded a one-under par 71 Tuesday for a total score of 227 and finished in 29th place. Marquez began the day on hole 10, and birdied the par-5 14th hole to go one-under par, but got back to even when he bogeyed the par-3 17th hole. Marquez finished the round with a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole to finish one-under par for the day.
 
Freshman Jack Knoesel finished in 35th place with a score of 230 after today's round of 80, while sophomore Francisco Yanez placed 38th overall with a score of 233 following today's 79. 
 
Freshman Marc Kepka tallied a round of 77 and finished in 40th place with a score of 234. Red-shirt freshman Sam Humphreys placed 45th overall with a total score of 243.
 
South Florida won its second straight league title with a 20-stroke victory over second-place Memphis. USF totaled a round of 278 on Tuesday for a 19-under par 845 score. USF's Aksel Olsen won individual medalist honors with an overall total of seven-under par 209.
