
Tulsa Track & Field Claims Five Event Titles in Arkansas Twilight

Fayetteville, Ark. –– Over the weekend, The University of Tulsa track and field team claimed five event titles and 12 top-five finishes in the Arkansas Twilight at the John McDonnell Field.
Sophomores Kiara Jones, Canadalyn Lyons, Quin Patterson and Cydney Fogle picked up TU's first event title of the day winning the women's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:46.85. The women picked up one more title as freshman Baylor Reese won the women's discus throw with an impressive distance of 47.02m. In that same event, Ty'Jae Scales finished runner-up with a distance of 46.30m.
The Tulsa men went on to pick up three event titles in a running event, throwing event and a jumping event. In the running event, freshman Robert Tully won the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:48.78. Senior Alex Lybarger claimed the title in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 57.23m, before sophomore Paul Akintade won the men's long jump with a distance of 7.05m. Other athletes with notable performances were sophomore Ben Preisner and senior David Anderson. Preisner clocked a fourth place time of 3:51.45 in the men's 1,500-meter run, while Anderson picked up a fourth place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.91.
The Hurricane is back in action on May 12-15 when it travels to Orlando, Fla., to participate in the 2016 American Outdoor Championships.
