
Women's Tennis Honored as ITA All-Academic Team

The University of Tulsa women's tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic Team as announced by Intercollegiate Tennis Association after posting a 3.50 grade point average as a team during the 2015-16 season. In order to be eligible for the team award, the program must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale.

Four student-athletes received ITA Scholar-Athlete status with grade point averages of 3.50 or above. Marcelina Cichon, Mahitha Dadireddy, Renata Kuricova and Saana Saarteinen were awarded ITA Scholar-Athlete status while the team finished the year with a 3.50 average GPA on their way to being crowned American Athletic Conference champions for the second consecutive year while qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the 10th straight season.

Cichon (Slupsk, Poland) posted a 25-9 singles record last season while Kuricova (Zapad, Slovakia) recorded a 20-plus win season of her own as she finished with a 21-5 record. Dadireddy (Hyderabad, India) went 13-6 in doubles play with Saarteinen (Tampere, Finland), who tallied a 23-9 singles record on her way to qualifying for the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles Championship.

In order to be eligible for ITA Scholar-Athlete status, student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale for the current academic year and be enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.Â
