Five Tulsa Women Golfers Named WGCA All-American Scholars

The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced today its All-American Scholars for the 2015-16 academic year. The organization recognized 838 women's collegiate golfers who have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
 
Five Tulsa golfers – senior Alex Haun, junior Nadia Majidizadeh and freshmen Olivia Jackson, Mackenzie Medders and Johanna Samuelsson – earned the All-American Scholar award.
 
Haun played in eight tournaments as a senior and has maintained a 3.64 GPA in exercise and sports science. Majidizadeh, from Tulsa's Union High School, was Tulsa's top golfer this past season with a team-best 75.7-stroke average and four top-25 performances. She has a 3.63 grade point average in International business. The trio of freshmen claimed the academic honor in their first seasons of collegiate golf, as Jackson had a 3.59 GPA in marketing, Medders with a 3.5 GPA and Samuelsson a 3.52 GPA, both in management.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents nearly 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
