Tulsa’s Rachel Thun Named to The American Preseason All-Conference Team

Tulsa's Rachel Thun was named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Women's Soccer Team, as announced by the league office. The Golden Hurricane was also picked to finish sixth in the conference as voted on by the league's head coaches.

A junior midfielder from Oklahoma City, Okla., Thun was a unanimous selection to the team. She is a two-year letterwinner who has started in 38 of 40 career contests. She has netted 15 goals and 15 assists for 45 points, and is a two-time first-team all-conference selection.

TU, which finished the 2015 season with a 13-6-1 overall record, including a 4-4-1 record in The American, returns 17 letterwinners, including eight starters from last season. Tulsa set a record to begin the 2015 season with an 8-0 start, the best start in program history. The Hurricane tallied 32 goals, recorded nine clean sheets, including a six-game streak to set a new high for consecutive shutouts, and the program received its first-ever top-25 national ranking, coming in at No. 19 in the September 14 Top Drawer Soccer poll.
